Abstract:

Sudeep Nagarkar's books emphasise on the journey more than the plot. He finds material for his stories through observation backed by adequate creative imagination. Sudeep believes nothing is fiction, everything is inspired from some source. “My initial books were inspired by the scenes I witnessed during my engineering days. Somewhere my stories are related to me, my friends, surroundings and society.” said Nagarkar. “What I write is a reflection of society and how the current generation works,” The author revealed. The scope of this paper does not involve the evaluation of the aesthetic quality of the novels addressed, but rather focuses exclusively on the psychological and social effect that the text produces on the readers. Themes of sexual assault, abuse, and victimization of women then need to be written with and examined with intensive scrutiny, especially when it holds the power to promote ideas concerning consent (in both men and women), and boundaries. Nagarkar’s novels cannot be condensed into a piece of art. His novels, consciously or unconsciously, not only become a part of discussion amongst teenagers but also take up the role of imparting knowledge and molding behavior. This places a considerable responsibility on the author to address psycho-social issues with greater care.
