Abstract:

Globalization has brought about significant changes in the Indian retail market, which has transformed from a traditional unorganized sector to a modern, organized sector. This research paper examines the impact of globalization on the Indian retail market, focusing on the changes in the market structure, consumer behavior, and the strategies adopted by retailers to compete in a globalized market. The paper uses a qualitative research methodology, which includes a review of the relevant literature on the topic, interviews with key stakeholders in the Indian retail industry, and a case study of a leading Indian retailer. The findings of the study suggest that globalization has had a significant impact on the Indian retail market, leading to changes in the market structure, consumer behavior, and the strategies adopted by retailers. The paper concludes that while globalization has brought about significant opportunities for Indian retailers to expand their market share and reach new customers, it has also created new challenges such as increased competition, changing consumer preferences, and the need to adapt to global best practices. The paper suggests that Indian retailers can succeed in a globalized market by adopting a customer-centric approach, investing in technology and innovation, and building strong partnerships with suppliers and other stakeholders. Overall, the research paper contributes to the understanding of the impact of globalization on the Indian retail market and provides insights for retailers and policymakers on how to navigate the challenges and opportunities presented by a globalized market.
