Future of the Renewable Energy in Algeria: A Review

In Algeria the energy consumption is based almost exclusively on fossil energy sources, hydrocarbons and especially natural gas. In recent years, Algerian government has shown an ambition to start a new renewable energy (RE) development plan. Algeria intends to be an important player in the production of electricity from the photovoltaic and wind sectors by integrating biomass, cogeneration, geothermal and eventually thermal solar, under its renewable energy program These energy sectors will be the driving force for a sustainable economic development model.
