Education of Tolerance Values to Early Children in Jakarta

This study aims to describe the education of tolerance values to early childhood that occurs in DKI Jakarta. Lately, tolerance values in Indonesia seem to invite problems. This means that the education of tolerance values to early childhood has a strategic role to be improved in order to face these challenges. Therefore, it is interesting to study, how teachers transform tolerance values education to early childhood in DKI Jakarta. This research was conducted in DKI Jakarta, by observing the phenomenon of the transformation of educational values of tolerance that occurs in preschool education institutions in Jakarta. This research is a type of descriptive-qualitative research, in order to obtain accurate data observation guidelines are made as a reference for in-depth interviews. For data verification and validation, member checks, audit trials, triangulation and expert opinions are conducted. The results of this study found that education on tolerance values was explicitly taught in East Jakarta preschool institutions. The education of tolerance values is carried out through the four domains of the 4M approach, namely knowing, acting, caring, and familiarizing (internalizing). In the realm of knowing, the teacher introduces the values of tolerance that underlie everyday behavior, such as respect, love, respect, willingness to help, and let other children do activities without disturbing other children. In the realm of doing, the teacher encourages children to do and practice the values of tolerance in daily behavior, such as respect for older children, love younger children, respect something that other children do, willingness to help other children in need, and let or does not interfere with other children who are doing activities, as long as the activities do not interfere with other children. In the realm of caring or caring for other children, such as reminding if there are children littering, reminding to wash their hands before eating, and reprimanding children who want to play outside of school. In the area of getting used, the teacher teaches children to always apply the values of tolerance in daily behavior, such as respect, love, willingness to help, and let other children do activities that do not interfere with other children.
