Abstract:

“We were Mengele Twins, which we found out later on what it meant.” recalls a holocaust victim, Eva Mozes Kor, one among a pair of Jewish twins who survived the brutal twinning experiment under the ‘Angel of Death’; Josef Mengele. The subject of twins has always fascinated researchers and scientists all over the globe. Even documentary makers have taken up the subject matter of the twin experiments conducted during the phase of the postmodern era. The experiments conducted on twins during World War II by Nazi Germany or studies conducted today in the world's largest twin town in Brazil; Candido Godoi was done to unlock the secret of twin births, the purpose of the former focused on making a nation of the Aryan Race. This paper tries to trace out the obsession of the 20th-century ‘Eugenics Theory’, and ‘Social Darwinism’ by Nazi Germany in bringing out a superior and a dominant race of ‘Blue Eyes’ and ‘Blonde Hair’. It also tries to understand the importance of homogeneity in the eyes of the Nazis about the racial policies laid by them and using the Marxist Theory of “Ideology” by Louis Althusser.
