In today's competitive business environment, virtual work settings present an increasing challenge for quick solutions to the complex problems of an organization. This allows an organization to pool talent and expert staff by eradicating the barriers to time and space. Accordingly, businesses are researching extensively on the performance enhancement of virtual teams. Digital work environments are revolutionizing the workplace by providing a high level of responsiveness and versatility. Digital work environment also has many problems and concerns that need to be tackled to improve team performance. Digital leadership is thus one of the major challenges in modern work environment. This review paper provides an introduction to virtual leaderships, virtual work environment benefits, virtual leadership challenges and suggestions to improve virtual team performance. This article also offers review of some earlier published researches and reports the findings on virtual team leadership in a struggle to the present the current state of work on this topic.
