Analysis of Section 309 Of Indian Penal Code, 1860: Attempt to Suicide

Suicide is the most contravention tropic of today’s generation. Many youngster’s because of some pity issues attempt suicide and takes their lives without even thinking about their loved once. Section 309 of IPC states attempt to suicide as a punishable offence, but the main issue is should it really be? Section 309 is based on the principle that, “the lives of men are not only valuable to them but also to the state which protects them”. This paper examines the concept of suicide and how the Indian judiciary has deal with section 309 of IPC and further examines it current position.
